Tumbling Team
Mission
Legacy believes that being a member of the Tumbling Team develops self-discipline, confidence, a strong work ethic, and leadership in young students. As members of the team, our tumblers will have the opportunity to train with highly qualified coaches in a friendly, productive environment. Members will have the opportunity to travel and compete in the United States Tumbling Association (U.S.T.A.) and will be divided by age and skill level. Our focus is on providing team members with the tools to succeed both in practice and on the competition mat.
Commitment
Members of the Legacy Tumbling Team practice at least twice a week. These members train in tumbling, trampoline and double-mini. The team travels around central Illinois to competitions monthly from December- April. It is mandatory for all team members to compete in the State meet at the end of April. If members place in the top 15 they qualify for the National Meet. The team travels to Nationals each June. All members of the Tumbling Team are expected to train September-May. The Nationals team trains and competes in June.
Awards & Recognition
At all U.S.T.A. Meets the top three scores in each flight will receive a trophy. 4th place and beyond are awarded medals. In the history of Stevens, they have won numerous overall team trophies at the National Level against over 40 teams.
Dr. Tom Stevens Memorial Scholarship
A memorial scholarship has been created in honor of Dr. Tom's 50 plus years of developing gymnasts at Stevens School of Dance and Gymnastics. Each year a scholarship will be awarded to a student in need who shows dedication and passion for trampoline and tumbling.
